We are even more dedicated, however, to
modeling and teaching Christian character to these young men, including
self-discipline, self-respect, respect for authority and good
sportsmanship.
As we begin this season, we asked some
former players to share their thoughts about the Mustangs;
Nathaniel Traylor
There are many times in my life when I have
drawn from, and continue to draw from, lessons I learned in the Mustangs
Baseball program. One thing that sticks out to me particularly is
responsibility. The staff that I had the privilege to play under was
poised with the idea that a high school baseball player should have the
ability to make wise decisions, and when you make a mistake you are
accountable for it. That seems like a simple idea, but it is the only
program that I ever played for to follow through with that simple
plan...

Its not just baseball...Growing up I was always
into playing sports, but baseball was my sport of choice. From t-ball to
my graduating year of high school, baseball was a constant learning
process. Baseball taught me two things: 1) The fundamentals of the game
& 2) Some important fundamentals of life. The best part about this game
is that everything you learn on the field can be applied off the field.
Teamwork is usually the word that describes sports; however, teamwork is
comprised of so many different specific traits like communication,
patience, self-control, being punctual and the list goes on...
Kevin Herzog-
...Throughout my playing days with the
Mustangs, I was able to learn better social skills, good moral
character; and what you might think most evident for a team sport, team
work. ...With the help of coaches and teammates, I learned lessons on
attitude, gratefulness, stamina, and hard work.
Our prayer this year is that the Montgomery
County Mustangs would be an extension of your home school program in
helping to coach your young man as he prepares for life.
