The coaches may or may not be the most knowledgeable
baseball people out there. That is not the issue. They are spiritual men;
men who are willing to invest much of their time in your son’s life..
There may be a time when they may make a decision on the baseball field
that may not make sense according to contemporary baseball wisdom. But as
parents we must trust the men that they are making the right decisions.
There may be things that you don’t know or see that the coaches see. They
may be making a spiritual decision, something that makes no "baseball"
sense, but is making a spiritual impact on someone. Could even be on the
other team. There may be times that you see something that the coaches
don’t see. There is a proper time and place to discuss that. We must,
however, give these men room to fail. They will make mistakes. Let us
always keep the game in perspective. Our ultimate goal is to finish the
race of life and hear our Saviour say, "Well done my good and faithful
servant."
We must never forget the reason we are here. It is
not just to play baseball. It is to influence our young men and others
with gospel. There is always an opportunity for us to make positive
influences on all the people we come in contact with. Whether it is an
umpire, an opposing player, coach, or just a bystander, we can influence
people with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
